Hillary Herndon
Assistant Professor of Viola, University of Tennessee
Violist Hillary Herndon has recently joined the University of Tennessee faculty as assistant professor of viola. An active performer, Ms. Herndon has toured with orchestras throughout Europe and North America and has acted as principal violist of the New World, Colorado Springs, Eastman and Juilliard Symphony Orchestras under the direction of some of today’s best conductors, including Michael Tilson- Thomas, Seiji Ozawa, Neeme Jarvi, Yuri Temirkanov, James Levine and Sir Norrington.
She has performed at several leading festivals including the National Repertory Orchestra, Tanglewood and the Perlman Chamber Music Seminar. Recent performances include collaborations with notable artists such as Victoria Chiang, the Avalon String Quartet, Merry Peckham, and Itzhak Perlman as well as appearances at Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome, the American Organists Guild National Symposium, and guest master classes at the Juilliard School and Perlman Music Program.
Ms. Herndon holds degrees from the Eastman and Juilliard Schools of Music.
