Bachelor of Arts in Applied Music
The Bachelor of Arts degree in Applied Music is designed for those students who have a strong interest in music, but desire a comprehensive liberal studies program. This degree program is ideal for those students who have many interests and are thinking of pursuing two majors: one in music and another subject such as history, a language, or business.
The BA degree provides an appropriate background for students who are preparing for careers such as:
- Musicologists
- Composers
- Music librarians
- Arts Administrators
- Music Therapists
The BA curriculum consists 45-48 hours of the basic core music courses: Music Theory, ear training, musicology, applied music (lessons), ensembles, solo class and several music electives. Students in the program have a capstone course or project which can be a recital or can also be a research paper.
The remainder of the 120 hours in the curriculum are the same as the requirements outlined for the Bachelor of Arts degree in the College of Arts and Sciences.
