Biography
Dan Allcott, Tennessee Technological
University
Dan Allcott
is the Music Director of the Bryan Symphony Orchestra. Allcott
has concurrently been appointed Assistant Professor and Director
of University Orchestras at Tennessee Tech University. Maestro
Allcott has been Music Director and conductor for the Atlanta
Ballet since the fall of 2000, during which time he as conducted
over 100 performances. He underwent his formal conducting studies
with verteran opera conductor Imre Pallo at Indiana University.
In the fall of 1996, Mr. Allcott was appointed the Indianapolis
Symphony Orchestra's Schmitt Conducting Fellow, a position he
held for three years. In 1998, Mr. Allcott was named the first
Herbert von Karajan Fellow of the American Austrian Foundation
at the Salzburg Festival and has been a participant in the Nicolai
Malko and Grzegorz Fitelberg competitions in Europe. Previous
to coming to Atlanta, Allcott was Associate Conductor and Director
of Education for the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic and Music
Director of the Columbus Youth Orchestra. For three years Allcott
was Associate Instructor of Conducting at Indiana University.
He frequently conducted the University's five orchestras and
the New Music Ensemble.
Mr. Allcott
is an accomplished cellist and holds cello performance degrees
from Indiana University and Drake University. He is a candidated
for a Doctorate of Music in Conducting from Indiana University.
At the Tenessee Cello Workshop Mr. Allcott will be conducting
the cello ensemble.
