Jazz Scholarships

There are several scholarships available specifically for students enrolled in the UT Jazz Program including the Jerry Coker Scholarship, Bill Harms Scholarsip, and the Barry McDonald Scholarship.

Jerry Coker Scholarship - Undergraduate
The Jazz Department's most prestigious award, the Jerry Coker Scholarship is awarded to one outstanding Freshman. The award can be used toward tuition, books or living expenses.

Bill Harms Scholarship - Undergraduate
Established by UT alumnus and jazz drummer Bill Harms, the Harms Scholarship is awarded to promising percussion students.

Barry McDonald Scholarship - Undergraduate
Established in honor of UT alumnus and acclaimed Nashville-based arranger and producer Barry McDonald, the McDonald Scholarship is given to outstanding juniors and seniors in the program. Auditions for this award are held in the Spring.

UT Band Scholarships - Undergraduate/Graduate
Scholarships are available for both graduate and undergraduate students who wish to play in the UT Winde Ensemble. The Wind Ensemble, conducted by Dr. Gary Sousa, is one of the finest groups of its kind in the country. For audition information, contact Judy Dooley at: (865) 974-7520 or jdooley@utk.edu
