The
University of Tennessee School of Music
About Us
The School of Music at the University
of Tennessee is part of the College of Arts and Sciences, the University's
largest and most comprehensive college. The School of Music offers
a broad and comprehensive music program. Through its many specialized
concentrations, the School offers students who major in music a wide
variety of professional performance and training experiences.
The music programs are multifaceted,
with opportunities for both the music major and non-major participant.
In addition to study with the professional faculty, rich musical
experiences in band, orchestra, jazz, choir, opera theatre, and chamber
music are available.
The School of Music has a fifty-nine
year tradition of excellence, with a current enrollment of over 450
music majors. This provides both a pleasant and professional atmosphere,
and ensures complete instrumentation for the larger ensembles, as
well as individual attention for students in private study, classes,
and the many chamber ensembles.
The faculty includes a performing specialist
on all band and orchestral instruments as well as piano, voice, organ,
harpsichord, and guitary, and specialists in conducting, music education,
musicology, and music theory and composition.
