Pedagogy

In addition to the Masters degree in Music Education, the School of Music at the University of Tennessee has two pedagogically oriented Masters programs:

Master of Music in Piano Pedagogy
The MM in Piano Pedagogy is designed for accomplished pianists who intend to pursue careers as teachers of piano. The program consists of 33 hours of coursework in piano performance, piano literature, and piano pedagogy (both teaching class piano and private piano lessons). Students have their choice of taking a course in Suzuki Piano Method or doing an internship in piano teaching.

Master of Music in Vocal Pedagogy
The MM in Vocal Pedagogy is designed for accomplished vocalists who intend to pursue careers as teachers of voice. The program consists of 33 hours of coursework in vocal performance, pedagogy and vocal literature as well as courses in Bibliography, Music Theory and Musicology. Students serve a two-semester internship and will conduct a research study in vocal pedagogy.
