Dr. Mary Palmer Join master teacher Dr. Mary Palmer, Orlando, to find out more about arts integration throughout the school curriculum.  The session will emphasize developing students’ skills and interest in reading, writing and other academic subjects Through the ARTS. Experience the power of the arts to bring meaning and excitement to literacy development without compromising arts learning. Classroom-tested materials and strategies will be shared. Come ready for active participation and interaction with colleagues.

Dr. Mary Palmer is President of Mary Palmer & Associates, LLC, a consulting firm specializing in the arts and education.  Drawing on her four decades in public education and community leadership, Mary works with schools throughout the country to assist them in developing and implementing arts integration programs to maximize student success and enliven schools.  Professor Emerita at the University of Central Florida - Orlando, Mary’s most recent position was as Professor and Coordinator of Graduate Studies in Music Education; she previously served as Dean of the UCF College of Education..   Palmer is senior author of Pre-Kindergarten through grade 8 music textbook series published by Silver Burdett Ginn.  She is the Founder, first Director of Florida’s Arts for a Complete Education/The Florida Alliance for Arts Education organization and has been instrumental in developing programs and policies affecting arts education in Florida. Past President of MENC Southern Division, VSA Arts of Florida, Florida Alliance for Arts Education, as well as a Board member of numerous organizations, she has received many awards, including the Arts Recognition Award from the Florida Department of State and membership in the Florida Music Educators Hall of Fame.
