Undergraduate Audition Procedures Voice

Auditions normally last about ten minutes and are heard by a committee of faculty members from your area of interest.  The faculty suggests the following in preparation for your live audition:

Voice

Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance
Bachelor of Music in Music Education (Vocal Emphasis)
Bachelor of Music in Sacred Music (Vocal Emphasis)
Bachelor of Arts
Music Minor

Two (2) songs of contrasting styles which represent two of the following:
An art song; A sacred solo; A selection from a musical, operetta or Broadway show suitable for the applicant’s voice; An aria from any standard opera in the original key (a good English translation is acceptable)

All songs must be memorized and students should bring an original copy (not a duplication) of each piece to the audition. Students may bring their own accompanist, perform with the accompanist provided by the School of Music or sing acappella. No taped accompaniment.
