Undergraduate Audition Procedures String Instruments

Auditions normally last about ten minutes and are heard by a committee of faculty members from your area of interest.  The faculty suggests the following in preparation for your live audition:

String Instruments

Undergraduate

One etude; Two or three movements from the standard solo literature for your instrument representing contrasting styles and genres; A 3-octave scale; Successful applicants should have some experience with double stops.

Graduate

Major and minor scales and arpeggios in 3 or 4 octaves; One etude or caprice;
Two or three movements representing contrasting styles and genres.

Memorization Strongly Suggested
