Graduate Admission is a four-step process:


1. Submit the Application for Admission and application fee directly to the UT Graduate School. Also Apply Online with the School of Music for graduate admissions. These are two separate applications which must be completed.

2. Submit official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended to the University of Tennessee Graduate School. For further information, refer to the
Office of Graduate Admissions.

3. Submit three letters of reference from people who can evaluate your readiness to undertake graduate study in music to the School of Music Graduate Secretary. Musicology and theory applicants should also submit a writing sample. Composition applicants should submit a sample of a composition. Vocal applicants must submit a pre-screening CD of 3 songs including art songs and arias in 3 different languages. (English counts as one language.)

4. Schedule an audition and/or interview with the faculty in your area of concentration with the School of Music Graduate Secretary. For further information on auditions, see:
