Dr. Binder attended North Carolina School for the Arts; the Cincinnati Conservatory; Virginia Commonwealth; and Florida State University, where she earned her D.M. She has played with the Virginia Symphony, Virginia Opera and Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra. She has appeared as a recitalist and clinician throughout the United States. In addition to her new appointment as the saxophone professor at UT, Dr. Frigo is also the baritone saxophonist and recording artist with the New Century Saxophone Quartet, the only ensemble of its kind to ever win the coveted First Prize of the Concert Artists Guild Competition in New York. Other highlights of Dr. Frigo's eclectic performing and teaching career include six years with the premiere U.S. Navy Band, Washington D.C., a Fulbright Grant to the Netherlands to study with world-class saxophonist Arno Bornkamp, faculty positions at Ithaca College and the University of South Carolina, and two prizes at the prestigious Fischoff International Chamber Music Competition. Together with pianist Rebecca Grausam, the Odyssey Duo formed in 2003 and maintains an active concert schedule. Dr. Frigo's degrees are from Ithaca College, University of Illinois, Conservatorium van Amsterdam, and the University of South Carolina. He received the B.M.E. degree from University of Wisconsin, River Falls, WI and the M.M. degree from Indiana University. He is principal clarinetist with the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra, and performs with the Knoxville Symphony Woodwind Quintet, the Spoleto Festival Orchestra, and Music from Bear Valley in California. He has performed as clarinetist with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, and has coordinated the UT Clarinet Choir. He has been principal bassoonist with the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra since 1972. Currently a member of the Knoxville Symphony Woodwind Quintet, McClelland has been a member of Windstrum, a bassoon/guitar duo; Lyric Chamberwinds, Smoky Mountain Chamber Players, and the Tennessee Bassoon Quartet, which performed on the Grammy Award winning PDQ Bach CD, An Awful Lot of Winds and Percussion. She received the B.M. degree from the University of Tennessee and the M.M. from Yale University. Her teachers include Robert Bloom and John Mack. She is principal oboist with the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra and a member of the Knoxville Symphony Woodwind Quintet. She has held faculty positions at Radford College and East Tennessee State University, Tennessee Governors School for the Arts, and has performed with Spoleto Festival Orchestra. She has recorded for Benson Music Group, John Purifoy Productions, and is featured on Kenneth Jacob's Sandcastles CD. MP3 Music Samples:
