Cathy Leach teaches trumpet, directs the UT Trumpet Ensemble and coaches small ensembles. Dr. Leach is principal trumpet with the Knoxville Symphony and Chamber Orchestras, and with the UT Brasswind Quintet. She is also a member of Monarch Brass, an all-star brass ensemble comprised of outstanding female brass players from around the world. Dr. Leach appears on recordings on the Musical Heritage and Opus One labels. Dr. Leach is the recipient of a 2004 School of Music Leadership Award, a 2006 Chancellors Award for Outstanding Teaching, and a 2007 James R. and Nell W. Cunningham Outstanding Teaching Award.  Her former students are performing professionally and teaching in universities and public schools all across the United States.  She currently serves the International Trumpet Guild as a member of the Board of Directors 2007-2011.
