Concerts & Events

The School of Music at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville offers more than 200 recitals and concerts per year. Unless otherwise noted, all concerts are FREE and open to the public. Most concerts and events will be in one of three performance halls on campus: Sandra G. Powell Recital Hall in the Natalie L. Haslam Music Center located at 1741 Volunteer Boulevard; James R. Cox Auditorium and Performance Hall 32, both in the Alumni Memorial Buildinglocated at 1408 Middle Drive.

January 2015

  • Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions 
    The Metropolitan Opera National Council Middle/East Tennessee District will hold its 2015 auditions in the Sandra Powell Hall of the Natalie L. Haslam Music Center on the campus of the University of Tennessee. The auditions will be held on January 3, 2015 beginning at 10:00 AM and are open to the public. Singers from throughout the United States will travel to Knoxville to take part in the prestigious competition. This year the distinguished panel of judges will consist of Maestro Jerome Shannon and operatic directors Dean Anthony and Carroll Freeman. Admission is free.

  • Gandelsman Duo with Kaleidos Duo:  Ready for the World Music Series, Eastern Europe
    Faculty and guest artists; UT Violin Professor Miroslav Hristov and guest artists: Vladmir Valjarevic, piano; Yuri Gandelsman, viola; and Janna Gandelsman, piano; performing the earthy, uplifting world of Eastern European chamber music. Gandelsman is former Principal Violist of the Israel Philharmonic and member of the famed Fine Arts Quartet
