Smart Music
Many instructors use SmartMusic in their studios. SmartMusic is a software program that acts as an accompanist for the performer. More information on the program can be found at http://www.smartmusic.com/.
You will need to purchase the following:
- A copy of the software (currently $25.00). Students can purchase a copy of Smart Music at the educational price directly from the website by entering the UT Student Code (ROCKYTOP2008). Once you have purchased the program, you will have access to the entire accompaniment library and all of Smart Music’s features for one year from the date of purchase. The program will be mailed directly to you.
- A microphone ($15.00). A microphone is required to use Intelligent Accompaniment, or for recording, tuning and assessment. It is recommended that you purchase a SmartMusic microphone (vocal or instrumental) since it works best with the program. It also has a clip (instrumental) or headset(vocal) to place the microphone in the optimal position.
- A USB adaptor ($35.00) to connect the microphone to Macintosh computer.
- Speakers cables ($5-7.00) to connect to the Bose speaker systems in the Music Building practice rooms. Home or dorm use will require that you provide the external speaker system as well (perhaps your stereo).
- A USB foot pedal is optional ($45.00).
