School of Music Guide to Graduate Studies

The Guide to Graduate Studies contains information regarding policies, regulations, and procedures governing graduate study in music at the University of Tennessee. It has been developed to assist graduate students in meeting University and School of Music requirements for the various curricula leading to Master’s degrees. The Guide is intended to supplement the official Graduate Catalog available from the Graduate School.

The graduate student should use this Guide as a checklist in meeting requirements for his/her particular concentration. The student is responsible for knowledge of and meeting all deadlines, as well as completing the appropriate curricula.

Because deadline dates change from semester to semester, the graduate student should also consult the Graduate School website.

Students are reminded that they, not the advisor, bear the ultimate responsibility for selecting courses, meeting course prerequisites, and adhering to university policies and procedures.
