Welcome to the School of Music

Choral Activities Website

Choral music is one of man's oldest art forms. People probably started to sing as soon as language developed. Like drama and dance, music is a performing art; and at the University of Tennessee, choral performances have been a tradition for more than a half-century. Students at UT can be a part of a quality choral experience by participating in one or more of the University's choirs. By singing in these choirs, students experience the rewards of performing a variety of great choral literature. They also benefit, from this experience by meeting and developing lasting friendships with other students who have similar interests. Each choir is open to students from all academic areas at the University, and each offers one hour of undergraduate or graduate credit for participation.

For students interested in being choral conductors, the School of Music offers both undergraduate and graduate degree programs that lead to this career goal. Graduates of the School of Music hold choral positions throughout the United States in public schools, churches, and colleges and universities.
