Brass Quintet

Graduates of the University of Tennessee Bachelor’s and Master’s of Music programs in woodwind, brass and percussion performance have successful careers as music educators
and performers in symphonies and military bands. Majoring in woodwind, brass, or percussion instruments gives the student the opportunity to focus on one primary instrument. Woodwind, brass, and percussion students take classes in music theory, ear training, musicology, and conducting as well as area literature and pedagogy. Students study with renowned faculty members at the University of Tennessee to ensure success on their instrument. Master classes with guest artists are frequently offered to give students differentexperiences in performance.

Woodwind, brass, and percussion majors have many opportunities for solo and group performances. Undergraduate performance majors are expected to perform two solo recitals. Graduate students give one recital. Performance students from UT have won many national and international awards and participate in national and international conferences.
