La Bohème is a perfect introduction to opera for first-time opera goers.
One of Puccini's most popular and often-performed operas, La Bohème is "… a story about four bohemian artistsgoing against the social norm to express themselves… a timeless story of love, illness, strife, poverty, friendship, and loss," says UT Opera Director, James Marvel.
Marvel, who directedThe Marriage of Figaro with the tagline Mozart's Only Opera About Elvis, has updated Puccini's opera to the future and will introduce viewers to a "post-apocalyptic city once known as Paris." There, "… the characters'antics…get them through hardships... inspire their creativity…and they help influence their world through their art."
Performances are scheduled on Friday, Sunday and Monday at 8:00 p.m., and at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. Cost is $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and $5 for students.
The UT Opera Theatre is committed to being the best ticket in town. We promise not to let you down.
