Opportunities For Giving
The School of Music, in conjunction with its Board of Advisors, hosts several events to benefit the School of Music and its student scholarships. These events include:
Musicales
The Board of Advisors normally hosts 2-3 fund-raising musicales held in the homes of School of Music patrons and community arts leaders. These are Sunday afternoon events featuring the talents of both performance faculty and student soloists and chamber ensembles from the School.
Spring Showcase
This is the major fundraising event sponsored by the Board of Advisors every spring. It is held at a major quality restaurant or country-club, and includes dinner and a silent auction throughout the evening. Entertainment is provided by the performance faculty, student soloists, and chamber ensembles from the School.
Adopt-A-Student Program
The Adopt-A-Student program is a unique scholarship initiative. It is offered to incoming or continuing undergraduates and graduates in music. Sponsors of the program select an area of interest and the School of Music matches them with an outstanding student in that area. The program is designed so that sponsors and students can develop a lasting relationship. Sponsors support and share in the growth and progress of their student over the years the student is in school. Students benefit from both the financial and influential support of their sponsor.
Adopt-A-Student scholarship donors pledge to provide annual support for an undergraduate student (4 years) or a graduate student (2 years). The minimum contribution is $1,000 a year. A contribution of $2,000 annually provides much-needed added incentive to attract the “best of the best” students.
